DF! Reflection

DF! Reflection

As usual we covered a lot of practices. Fortunately this time there was some time allotted to retry Google Hangouts etc.

I am grateful that the 2 x guest speakers on Google Hangouts were more focused on our learning needs  ie. actual, useful methods on computers, vs. a philosophical discussion about Manaia Kalani's history: that was somewhat interminable in Week 1.

I enjoyed getting a snapshot of wider practices by Kent Somerville = drones,  Live Streaming, changes of YT policy etc.  The explanation of 'embedding' was useful. re prioritising slides, stopping kids 'surfing' other stuff on YT etc.

Various conceptual ideas made me think about my own teaching, by AnneSinclair, viz: METACOGNITION; SiSoMo; the concept of EXPLORATION  time; the use of practical/ artistic work to deeply imbue students with actual learning.   I enjoyed Anne's quote of: "If it's not worth Sharing, was it worth Doing?" - I will steal that to prompt some tamariki.

I especially enjoyed some work done on Google Drawing, and later on Google Slide, and did some useful developments of those areas.

The requirement to do a Shared post (with Edwina and Scott at distances) on Google Handout had it's hiccups, but we eventually did a good sharing.    CWE

  1. Hi Chris
Today we covered a lot of practices indeed. You seem to be becoming more and more confident with each session. I agree with you about enjoying the work we did on google draw and google slide, they were very informative and useful (I cannot wait to use them in my classroom).

    See you next week.
